Combi Boiler

What is a Combi Boiler?

Combi (short for combination) boilers are manufactured to contain everything needed to both heat your radiators and deliver hot water to the taps throughout your home in one compact unit, meaning there is no need for a hot water cylinder or water tank, allowing for you save valuable space in the home.

A combi boiler will heat the water instantly when you turn on a hot tap, and as the water comes straight from the mains, the water flow rate at the tap is usually very strong. Also, because it only heats the water you need, and when it’s required, they are also extremely energy efficient.

They are particularly suitable for homes with one bathroom, as the flow of the hot water can be significantly reduced if more than one hot tap is running at the same time. If your home has multiple bathrooms, or has low main water pressure or a high demand for hot water, a system boiler may be more suitable. Since the Building Regulations changed in April 2018 (known as Boiler Plus), all boiler installations must include a timer and a room thermostat. In addition to these features, your installed combi boiler must also include one (or more) of the following extra energy efficiency measures; weather compensation, load compensation, flue gas heat recovery and smart control with automation and optimisations.
