What is a System Boiler?
The main components of both the heating and hot water system (including the pump and expansion vessel) are built into the system boiler, with a sealed hot water cylinder in the system providing the taps and radiators within the home with hot water.
Due to this system, there is also no requirement for a feed or expansion cistern in the loft space, allowing for you to save space, as well as preventing the risks of any leaks or frost damage to the pipes and tanks.
A system boiler when fitted with a unvented cylinder provides a high flow rate of hot water, allowing for bathtubs to be filled quicker and for showers to be more powerful, this is due to the in-built pump. This also prevents the water running to a cold temperature elsewhere in the home. Each system boiler is also compatible with the unvented hot water storage system (such as the Megaflo Eco).
Since the Building Regulations changed in April 2018 (known as Boiler Plus), all boiler installations must include a timer and a room thermostat.
